Wish I were a magician (or knew one)

I’ve seen magicians do that tablecloth trick…you know, pull a tablecloth out from under a bunch of glasses, plates, silverware…the works. We got a new rug from my mom a while ago, and thought that the only place that would be be good for it is in the living room to replace a much smaller rug we had. That one basically just fit underneath the coffee table. So anyway, I spent the better part of today moving all the furniture out, including the big hutch that our entertainment system lives in. Heavy sucker. With the help of these dollys, I was able to move everything out. Now just waiting for the floor to dry and I’ll lay the rug, and move everything back in.

Whew…
Would have been a lot easier if I just had a magician to whip the old one out and put the new one in.

New Grill…best of both worlds

Several weeks ago was my 30th birthday, and Kelly said she wanted to buy me a new grill for it. I currently have one large charcoal grill that is rusted and out of shape. It’s also really annoying to just cook for two because it’s so large and takes too much charcoal to get it hot enough. I also have a small Weber kettle grill that was here at the house when we bought it. The legs fall off of that one if you try to move it. So, it was time for a new grill…

Of course I wanted charcoal, but it’s such a pain when you just want to grill something real quick, but ideal for smoking and slow cooking. So I was leaning towards a propane grill for day-to-day use, and just keep the Weber for when I needed it. I looked around a lot at fancy grills with rotisseries and infrared burners, but to get what I liked seemed like a lot more money than we thought was a good idea. I lost interest a little because I couldn’t find something that was “the one” and also within price range.

Until today…we happened to stop by Lowes just to see what they had in stock. I had been to their website a ton of times so I thought I knew what they had to offer. Then I found it. The best of both worlds. 1200+ sq inches of cooking surface. Side burner. Propane powered…AND charcoal powered!

Excited to put it together tomorrow, maybe even try it out! Might post some pictures.

Wow…it’s been a while…

So, we’ve pretty much slacked off for a year an a half with updating this beast. A LOT has happened since then. Lemme highlight a few:

  • Kelly graduated from SLU. Woot! BSN!
  • Kelly turned 30!
  • Kelly started working at St. John’s Mercy Rehab Hospital
  • I quit Boeing
  • I started working at Scottrade
  • Both of us are learning how to wakeboard
  • I discovered the pain of waxing my back
  • I turned 30!
  • We adopted the puppies out to my sister and brother-in-law. Kelly’s allergies grew out of control, and with much sadness, we took them to a good home. They now have a lot of room to play, as well as a 3 1/2 year old to chase

Although this post hasn’t been terribly enlightening, we’ll try to update this more often.
